Day 1: Marrakech to Ouarzazate via Ait Ben Haddou
Your adventure starts with an early morning pickup from your Marrakech home. We head into the High Atlas Mountains, passing the famous Tizi n’Tichka pass (2,260m). Along the way, you’ll see stunning views.
After lunch, we visit Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site. It’s known for its traditional Moroccan earthen clay architecture. It’s also famous for being a filming location for Game of Thrones and Gladiator.
The day ends in Ouarzazate, called the “Hollywood of Africa.” We’ll stay in a cozy hotel there for the night.
Day 2: Ouarzazate to Dades Valley via Todra Gorge
After breakfast, we head out on the “Road of a Thousand Kasbahs” to the Dades Valley. We’ll see the Todra Gorge, where cliffs tower up to 300 meters. This makes it one of Morocco’s most stunning natural spots.
Take a walk through this amazing canyon. Then, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, we’ll drive to the Dades Valley. It’s famous for its unique rock formations, called “monkey fingers.”
Overnight, we’ll stay in a charming hotel with a view of the valley.
Day 3: Dades Valley to Merzouga Desert
Today, we head towards the Sahara Desert. We pass through Tinghir, Erfoud, and the Ziz Valley. This valley is known for its lush palm groves.
When we reach Merzouga, we’ll enjoy a refreshing mint tea. Then, we’ll ride camels for 1.5 hours across the Erg Chebbi dunes. The sunset will turn the desert into a golden wonderland.
After the trek, we’ll arrive at our desert camp. There, we’ll have a traditional Moroccan dinner under the stars. We’ll also listen to Berber music by the campfire.
As night falls, you’ll sleep in a comfortable tent. The Sahara’s stars will light up the sky above you.
Day 4: Merzouga Desert Exploration
Day 5: Merzouga to Marrakech via Draa Valley
On our final day, we start our way back to Marrakech. We take a different path through the Draa Valley. This valley is famous for Morocco’s longest river and its many palm groves.
We’ll stop in Ouarzazate for lunch. After that, we cross the High Atlas Mountains. The scenery changes as we head towards Marrakech, arriving in the early evening.
