    Frequently Asked Questions
4 day sahara desert tour from marrakech

How long is the drive from Marrakech to Merzouga?

The total distance is approximately 560 km (350 miles). On a 4 day tour from Marrakech to Merzouga, we break this down into manageable segments. You will spend about 4 to 6 hours in the vehicle per day, which is much more comfortable than the 10-hour return drive required by shorter 3-day tours. We make frequent stops for photos, coffee, and scenic views to keep the journey enjoyable.

What is the difference between a private and a shared 4-day tour?

A private Marrakech to Merzouga 4 days private desert tour gives you complete flexibility. You can choose when to start your day, stop to enjoy any view, and have your driver’s full attention. Shared tours cost less but follow a set schedule and include a fixed group.

Where do we stop for lunch during the tour?

We choose local, family-run restaurants that offer real Moroccan food. You’ll get to try Berber Tagines, fresh salads, and Madfouna (Berber Pizza) while enjoying views from rooftop terraces. We skip the big tourist cafeterias so you can experience the true flavors of the area. If you have any dietary needs, like vegan or gluten-free, just tell your driver.

Is it safe to travel to the Merzouga desert?

The route from Marrakech to the Sahara is safe and popular with travelers. Our drivers are experienced and know the mountain roads and desert paths well. Morocco is famous for its hospitality, and the south is especially friendly to visitors from abroad.

What should I pack for a 4-day trip to the Merzouga Sahara Desert?

Desert nights can get cool, even during summer. Here’s what we suggest you pack:
    • Bring a light jacket or sweater for the evenings.
    • Pack comfortable walking shoes for exploring Kasbahs and Gorges.
    • Don’t forget sunglasses, sunscreen, and a hat to protect yourself from the desert sun.
    • Bring a small overnight bag for the camel trek. You can safely leave your main luggage in the 4×4.

Can I charge my phone and camera in the desert camp?

Most of our camps in Merzouga use solar power. You can usually charge your devices in the main dining tent or in your private tent if you book the luxury camp. We still recommend bringing a power bank so you can take plenty of photos of the dunes.

    Is the camel trek difficult?

The camel ride to the camp takes about an hour and moves at a gentle pace, making it suitable for most ages. If you prefer not to ride a camel, we can arrange a 4×4 transfer to the camp at no extra cost. This way, you can still enjoy the sunset and the desert experience in comfort.
